NEW HIKING TRAIL WITH MYTHICAL CREATURES
”The Nix and the Elf-girl” is a new hiking route with listening posts that lead you into the myths and superstition of the past. The trail is especially suited for older kids. The mixture of the enigmatic nature and magical creatures like elf-girls and water spirit creates a fascinating and somewhat spooky experience. The hike is designed to illustrate the significant role that the Supernaturals played in the daily life our ancestors.
MIST AND TWILIGHT FUELLED SUPERSTITION
The route is made in cooperation with The Danish Nature Agency of Funen and Øhavsmuseet. It consists of three different trails, each one leading you into the landscape and the past. In the unique nature between the lake of Arreskov Sø og the hills of Svanninge Bjerge, you will find one of the best preserved landscapes on Funen. Here, you can get close to the kind of nature that fuelled our ancestors’ belief in beautiful and dangerous creatures, hiding in the mist and twilight. Along the route, you can listen to 3 different audio tracks. The first one features the magical creatures, telling their story. The second one gives you fun facts about nature. And the third one inspires you to engage in different activities together with your family or friends.
VOICES OF THE NIX AND THE ELF-GIRL
The dramatised stories at the listening posts are created by the playwriter Jannie Schjødt Kold with the sound designer Mathias Sørensen (Kontrafej). The Nix and the Elf-Girl are brought to life with the voices of the actors Joen Højerslev og Pernille Valentin.
Along the hiking trails, you will meet carved wooden sculptures, made by the Southern Funen sculptur Balder Mo Schiøtte.
The project is supported by the Danish Nordea-fonden.
