SPECIAL EXHIBITION
ROOTED CONNECTIONS
The special exhibition Rooted Connections. Experience the charming cultural history exhibition that explores humans connection to nature – told through poetic portraits of the inhabitants of the islands of Bjørnø, Lyø and Avernakø.
Rooted Connections is open from 22nd May
INTERNATIONAL DUO
The international artist duo “Eyes as big as Plates” have created a series of unique works for Øhavsmuseet. The works depict people’s relationship with the nature right on their doorstep – from a fresh and fascinating perspective.
Through conversations with the islanders, the duo have created portraits that reflect how the islanders feel connected to the very place they live. What is important to them? How do they see themselves?
“Eyes as big as Plates” has created these portraits in many places around the world, and now, for the first time, you can experience them in Denmark.
HUNTING CARTRIDGES AND FISHING NETS
In the exhibition, the artistic portraits are paired with objects from the collection of Øhavsmuseet. These objects provide a cultural-historical perspective on life in the archipelago.
One example is a box containing tools for making hunting cartridges – including gunpowder, primers, lead bullets and cartridge cases. The box dates from the first half of the 20th century and bears witness to a life closely connected with nature’s resources.
DRESS UP AS A MUSHROOM
A visit to Øhavsmuseet is always an experience for all ages and for everyone to enjoy together. In the Rooted Connection exhibition, children therefore also have the opportunity to dress up. Perhaps the little ones would like to be pine cones, mushrooms or maybe trees?
CAFÉ & SHOP
After visiting the exhibition, why not sit down in the café with a cup of freshly brewed quality coffee, tea or an organic soft drink? There are also cakes and other treats for those with a sweet tooth. If you’re looking for a gift for yourself or others, explore the museum shop, which offers local specialities and other lovely items for young and old alike.
