Whether you plan for a company event or celebrate a family get-together, Øhavsmuseet offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities that are suitable for sharing something special together. We also customise tours to match your individual arrangement, whether you belong to a private group, an organisation or a company. Below please find some of our activities.

If you are a larger group, we recommend you to book a fixed time at Øhavsmuseet’s new exhibition “Discover Yourself”. Please find more information about the exhibition here which will take you on a magical and sensuous journey into nature and history. Try out the test stations that can reveal how nature affects just you.

Why not put your family or employees behind bars in our local town jail. Join our guided tour and explore the authentic premises that reveals how prison life was experienced by both past and present inmates. Serving time under lock and key gives rise to many reflections among young and old alike.

Our town jail guide takes you on a historical journey in Danish law and punishment. After the tour, you are free to explore the courtroom, the cells, the director’s bedroom and the prison yard.

Visit denmark’s most charming mill

Explore Denmark’s oldest and cosiest watermill on a guided tour to Kaleko Mølle. In its scenic surroundings, you will learn the fascinating story about the mill and its importance to generations of hard-working millers, their families, and the local community. It is a journey from the Middle Ages till 1912, when the last miller left the premises.

Afterwards, you can experiment with hydropower at the outdoor water play station, hear fun facts about the water’s history at listening posts, and take a nice stroll to the sea.

Guided tour in the hills of Svanninge

Explore the stunning Ice Age hills of Svanninge Bakker. This beautiful site belongs to Denmark’s most unique natural areas and has been formed by Ice Age glaciers around 12,000 years ago. Here, gigantic ice blocks and snowmelt have left large depressions in the ground, thereby creating this impressive type of Danish landscape. Follow our outdoor guide into the rolling hills and learn about their origins and how Nature has influenced people’s lives throughout generations. Enjoy the stories about trolls and elves and listen to the colourful past of the hills that covers everything from gallows to an outdoor dance venue.

Guided tour to a Stone Age burial ground

Join a guided expedition into the fascinating ”Pipstorn Skov”, where Nature and man’s history is unfolded before your very eyes. In this hilly forest area, you will find one of Denmark’s largest concentrations of megaliths and gain insight into the lives and beliefs of prehistoric humans. During this scenic walk, you will find a flourishing kingdom of wild plants. Meet the Giant Horsetail, a favourite snack of the dinosaurs, and discover the special trees that have hosted elves and other mythical creatures. And maybe still do.

Family walk among megalithic wonders

Discover “Pipstorn Skov”, a mesmerizing forest area in the outskirts of Faaborg. Here, one of Denmark’s most dense area of ancient monuments are hidden – 42 megaliths to be precise. Among these up to 6,000 years old graves, our outdoor guide will entertain you with stories about our old beliefs in Nordic gods, trolls, elves and other supernatural creatures that have formed an important part of people’s lives throughout history. Thanks to many breaks, time to play and small snacks, the walk is also suitable for groups with kids, whether you have a birthday party or a family gathering.
