INVISIBLE THEATER IN SVANNINGE BJERGE
Beneath the Ice is a dramatised audio walk, created by a.o. Øhavsmuseet, BaggårdTeatret and Faaborg Museum. The setting is the beautiful countryside of Southern Funen and you decide when the show starts.
In the company of archaeologist Sofie, you ascend into the hilly Ice Age landscape that cradles the picturesque town of Faaborg. Feel how your pulse quickens as you walk upwards with a lovestruck Hans Christian Andersen in your ear. Smell the pine forest as Riborg Voigt shares her memories with you. And let yourself be captivated by the gentle hills that mesmerised the famous painters Anna and Fritz Syberg.
The show blends historical reality with fiction, drawing on correspondence between the Sybergs and between Hans Christian Andersen and Riborg Voigt.

The Walk
The audio walk begins at Øhavsmuseet (the Archipelago Museum, 3 Havnegade) and ends at the summit of Lerbjerg hill with its fantastic panorama of the “Funen Alps”. Return to Faaborg by bus from the stop a little way down the hill from the Skovlyst Restaurant.
Get acquainted with the app’s route map in advance and follow the app directions as you go. In Svanninge Bjerge you may encounter friendly Welsh Black cattle. The app allows you to take any break you need. Make sure to bring plenty of water. The walk is about seven kilometres long with no public toilets, water taps or cafés en route. It is up to you to keep the show on the road: this theatre is you!
